Children’s Policy Roundtables - Springdale
The 2025 General Assembly Session is just around the corner, and it is time to think about what laws you’d like to advocate for to improve the well-being of our state’s kids. In this series of roundtable discussions, you and your fellow advocates will talk about what needs and issues you see in your community, and what potential policy solutions you’d like to see. During the event you will have the opportunity to discuss multiple topics and connect with other advocates.
When: Thursday, April 4 from 11:00am-2:30pm (lunch will be provided)
Where: The Jones Center Conference Center, (922 E Emma Avenue, Springdale)
This is the first part of a three-part series to prepare you for the 2025 legislative session. In the summer we will host a virtual Advocacy Academy to go over advocacy basics, how to advocate with an equity focus, different tactics you can use, and how to create a plan for your advocacy. And in the fall, we will have our Children’s Policy Summits and Conferences to do a deep dive into bills we expect to see and give you an opportunity to hone your advocacy skills.

Since the last newsletter, there’s been more drama with the Arkansas Board of Corrections. On Jan. 31st, the Board of Corrections appointed their own interim Corrections Secretary, former State Senator Eddie Joe Williams. Five days later, Williams resigned the position after the Attorney General and Governor Sanders challenged the Board’s ability to make the appointment. On Thursday, the governor named her appointment for Corrections Secretary, Lindsay Wallace, who has been the agency’s chief of staff since 2020.
