Spring Break for most of Arkansas (including the Legislature) is this coming week. So, I won’t be sending a regular newsletter next week.

Below, I’ve included upcoming events and information on how to participate in the process to implement the changes to our education system from the LEARNS Act. Please consider applying to join a working group… we need people who care about public education in the room when decisions are made.

  • Sunday, Mar. 19 from 2 - 5 p.m. - Plantaplooza with NWA Girl Gang at Likewise in Fayetteville (70 N College Ave)

  • Monday, Mar. 20 at 7 p.m. - “A Safe Place to Sleep” documentary premiere about Arkansas’s lack of tenant protections. Premiere will be hosted by Monique Jones and Sen. Greg Leding; Squire Jehegan Outreach Center (115 S. Willow, Fayetteville)- admission is free!

  • Saturday, Mar. 25 from 1 - 4 p.m. - Safe Driving workshop with the Bentonville Police Department; Designed for participants in grades 7-12, but parents and new drivers are welcome. Register here (Bentonville Public Library).

  • Saturday, Mar. 25 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. - Women’s History Month Celebration and Fundraiser for Emerge Arkansas - featuring Bentonville City Council Member Gayatri Agnew; at Two Friends Books in Bentonville - Tickets required

  • Tuesday, Apr. 4 from 6 - 8 p.m. - Round-table discussion on the Criminal Legal System with the Arkansas Justice Reform Coalition at the Meteor Guitar Gallery (128 W Central Ave, Bentonville)

LEARNS Rulemaking Work Groups

Arkansans are invited to participate in the implementation of the LEARNS Act. Participants will contribute to the development of rules and policies in volunteer work groups organized by the following topics:

  • School Safety

  • Early Learning

  • Parental Empowerment

  • Teaching and Learning

  • Educator Workforce

  • Career Readiness

Meetings will be virtual and face-to-face and will require a commitment to attend over the next few months. Applicants must complete a form and upload resumes by March 31st.

Bentonville Short-term Rental Work Group Opportunity

Democratic Party of Arkansas Announces Public Comment Period for Delegate Selection Plan

The Democratic Party of Arkansas is excited to announce the opening of a public comment period for the Arkansas Delegate Selection Plan for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
